welcome back
In the midst of the crazy mayhem October produced, Tumblr really seemed to take a backseat. Here’s an update on life since we last spoke:
- I’ve completed my first teaching experience! Halloween, my last day, was a lot of work both physically and emotionally. It was really sad to leave my kids, although I knew I was leaving them in good hands. It was also sad because I knew I was facing an uncertain future. What’s next for me? I’ve never been good at hiatuses (sp?), where I inevitably will end up losing my marbles and spiraling into a deep depression. We’ll see what happens.
- I’ve gotten through my first week as a daily sub. I only was called twice, so I’m going to have to seriously think about the significant lack of money coming in now. I’m considering getting a part time job for both financial and emotional stability.
- The significant reduction of paperwork (from imense to 1 report I make per day of work) has helped me get back on track for my 5K training. I’ve run three times last week, all being 2 + miles. I’ve got about 3 weeks to get up to 3.2.
- I’m beginning my grad school research. I’m tossing around a few ideas, but seriously considering a PhD program in Philadelphia for Childrens/Young Adult lit. It’s where my heart has always been, so we’ll see. Right now I’m thinking Fall ‘13.
- I spent $50 on GRE prep materials. Back to studying. Yay.
So I’m turning back to Tumblr as a source for emotional support until the next phase of this year. Applying to jobs is both an emotionally and physically trying experience. I just need a new home, some place where I won’t make friends and then force to leave. That’s pretty much been my life for 9 years. I’m looking forward to a change.
