Learning to Drive

High School English Teacher - Avid Book/Theater Nerd - Amateur Runner - Learning to Drive through my 20somethings

I haven’t blogged in over a month.

  • I’ve started a new job in the admissions department in a vocational school. It’s a mostly administration-like position with a little special ed instrution sprinkled within. I am the youngest in my department by at least 25 yrs. And although the workload is way less and the pay is the same, I miss classroom teaching every day.
  • I’ve also started working at a tutoring company Mon-Thurs night to fill the time. It’s actually proven to be more difficult than my day job.
  • I’m turning down interviews for long-term sub positions left and right. It seems like every week I get a call for a long-term sub position and I have to turn it down. I’m waiting until the Spring because I think I have a high chance of getting a full time job in September.
  • If that doesn’t happen, I’m seriously considering going to China for a year.
  • I’ve finally gotten to the good part in Girl With a Dragon Tattoo - some 240 pages in
  • I dated someone early in November, and being the anti-committal nutcase I am, fled.

And now Christmas time is here. Yesterday, I made 4 dozen perogies with my Babchi, and today I am decorating the Christmas tree. It’s a bitch when your parents start getting old and you have to do everything being the 22 yr old who lives with them. It’s like having children.

Words cannot express my excitement for the next 3 weeks of my life.

Words cannot express my fear for this winter. I feel like the guy from Game of Thrones saying, “Winter is coming”. I always get depressed and fat from January til April and living alone in South Jersey in a job I don’t feel fulfilled in, is scary. I’m worried for my mental health.

I really miss my friends.
